Our hiking program is the only one in midwestern Wisconsin. We have put in a variety of safety parameters to ensure that while your dog is traveling, and on location they are safe. Your dog will travel in a 4WD vehicle in a crash tested crate on the way to the outing. This vehicle has AAA emergency care in case of automobile trouble. Each RUFFLAND crate has water and a fan for warmer months. Your dog may have a long line on (even in fenced spaces) so we can work on recalls. Your dog will have your physical ID on them, as well as ours. They will be chaperoned by a senior staff member. All are certified in First Aid, body language knowledgeable and with good driving records. Your dog will be hiking in either a 20 acre fenced area, or a property with no dogs within miles. You can opt for swimming day, a hiking day, or just a meandering day. This walk is for the DOG to determine what they would like to do. This adventure is one to two hours long, with a 20-30 minute drive to these properties. Staff carry a first aid kit, Pet Corrector spray for emergencies with wildlife, cell phone, extra gear, water if needed, treats and poop bags.
Solo hikes are the perfect treat for dogs who just need alone time in a natural space. Urban walks are very stressful for dogs who do not always enjoy the presence of other dogs.
Group hikes are hikes with friends. The groups will be determined by the staff based on your dog’s compatibility with other dogs. Or, group hikes are for a group of dog friends who already enjoy each other.
Reminders that we are hiking in natural spaces. Dogs need to be on some kind of flea/tick prevention, up to date on vaccines (distemper/parvo/rabies and leptospirosis*this is not included in core vaccines, so ask your veterinarian) and have physical ID on them. There will be sand, possible mud, possibly water, and seed pods that could be stuck in their fur. This service is not for dogs or humans that do not mind a bit of nature in their dog’s coats. They will be brushed out to get larger pieces out of their fur. They will not be meticulously groomed when arriving back to you.
Dogs will be dropped off up to 15 minutes before departure at emBARK. Dogs will be picked up within 15 minutes of arriving back at emBARK.
